NetBoxTV: Got one at my job!

I finally got a computer small enough to fit next to my TV and powerful enough to play 1080p Netflix or Hulu. This computer has an Intel graphic card which means the CPU is powerful. It has a Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (benchmark) and 4GB of memory with a nice 500GB of storage. It has Wi-Fi (no Bluetooth) 6 USB ports and a DVI port (less than $10 for a DVI to HMI cable). When using the HDMI cable I got the sounds through it as well, so that was nice! Of course, Windows 7 Home Premium was include but sadly it was 32bit only. And I forgot, it has a Blu-ray player in it (the software given to play them wasn’t that great, but it worked good under Media Center) with the basic Windows Media Center Remote.

The price is $550 (CDW, B&H) which is expensive but you will have no problem playing anything on it (except games of course). The product is from ViewSonic (believe being made by Aopen) and it’s called the VOT550. A cheaper version exist with only 2GB of memory VOT530.

I setup that one at my job, not to watch Netflix, Hulu or even a Blu-ray put simply for PowerPoint, video conferences, skype… without having the need to replace this computer in a year which I would have with a traditional Atom processor. This computer has been very quiet and pretty robust. I am very happy with my choice, it will not replace my PS3 at home!
